Nothing. Life sucks right now, stop reminding me.
Be thankful it isnt worse, I guess...

Love you brother!
It can’t rain all the time. You can get through whatever is going on man.
Shitty day:fallen_leaf: think about you and your tomorrow

be selfish
Feel you man
No bad day that a drink/drug won't make worse!
Haven’t had a drop is 341 days, not going to start now.
Im just sick of this app and everybody acting like somehow life is SO GREAT.
Nobody gives a sh*t about what im going through, really, and why should they? Life isn’t that good. Life is awful. Stop acting like it’s somehow roses and sunshine. I have absolutely nothing I actually want, and little to no hope of ever getting it.
You need a new pair of glasses. I’m not talking about the ones in your profile pic.
A New Pair Of Glasses by Charles Chamberlain. It’s a great read and may help your outlook on life
Congrats on 341 plus days. That in itself is incredible and something you wanted and obtained! Celebrate that. I get it, some days are sunny and bright and some are dark and cloudy. Every situation, for each us, is different. I hope tomorrow brings you a sunny day.
Our lives all suck in one fashion or another too! It’s what one chooses to focus and dwell on that makes the difference.
I have a laundry list of tragedies in my life that led me to almost drinking myself to death last year. But if I kept focusing on how bad things were/are I would never moved past it.
In drivers training, especially in racing school and emergency vehicle operation, they teach you that you steer/drive where you look. i.e, if you stare at a telephone pole while driving around a corner, you’re more than likely going to drive towards it and hit it. You need to look where you want to go, and you’ll naturally drive there.
Some of us have just started looking where we want to go. We still care about others and their problems, and certainly want to listen and help, however, we may not be as wrapped up in our own problems as we used to be.
So what do you want? Why is it impossible to attain? My life is great. It hasn’t always been that way. I had to make it great. Watch this clip every morning
It was the inspiration that helped me. Good luck man.
I want something resembling hope for my future. I don’t have that now.
I broke my collarbone, and I’m basically off weight training for over a month. Lifting was the only thing that I found that helped my mood, anxiety, and took away my thoughts of disillusionment with the modern world. Now I’m stuck again with those thoughts, and no progress, and seeing my gains dwindle. Any hope of becoming attractive to the opposite s_x put on hold, again, and trust me, after over ten years of nothing with women, it’s really getting to me.
Back to “hope” for the future. I don’t have it, it’s really hard to see right now. Not just from a personal development perspective, but from a macro-economic perspective. I have a good job, for now, but I have no passion for it and I’ve been in this industry for over a decade and just don’t care about it anymore. It’s the ultimate luxury problem, to be uninvested in your industry which pays you over six figures, but here I am.
I also want a family, I’d like a legacy, I want to own a house someday, I want to buy a Porsche 996, I want to travel to South America and see things like Gobekli Tepe and the Incan cultural sites like Machu Picchu. I’d like to turn the small business I’ve started into something where I take my web development skill set and turn it into something meaningful for work.
I really am just struggling, I don’t know how else to put it, and life seems bleak. It feels like I just have to “settle” for what I get now, because I spent twelve years spending every night and every dime I have at a bar. This is the “best” I’m going to do, and I’m absolutely miserable, and I hate it.
I hope that makes sense.
I
It completely makes sense. You are in a rut. You are a year in to sobriety. That is a huge thing. But let’s go through your list. Broken collar bone… I’ve been there and I know that pain! So you can’t lift for 6 weeks… you said you spent 12 years in the bottle, so 6 weeks of rest to heal should be nothing. The gains won’t disappear. I get the feel good chems from working out, but think of it as a recouping time.
Being “attractive” to women because of lifting… come on man really? If you really think that is the end all be all of attraction I would suggest taking a few classes. Some of the most attractive friends I have that are women are married to dad bod having, kind, gentle, providers who make them laugh until They almost pee themselves. It’s not the shell that counts, it’s the interior.
You make 6 figures… awesome. I don’t. I make half of that. You want a house, Porsche, travel… i own a house and land up north, drive a giant suv, own a Jeep Wrangler, travel all the time, have three kids… what’s holding you back? If those material things will make you happy, why not get them?
Passion about work… sure. I am in construction. I started at the bottom installing and now I expedite jobs. Took me 20 years to get here. Am I passionate… no. Do I enjoy it yes. You want to do something meaningful… what is that to you?
For real man this isn’t me calling you out. I know the feeling of “settling” and it is completely disheartening. I was there. I had to change my outlook on life. that video truly was the inspiration for me. I hope you can pull yourself out of the funk. You pulled yourself out of a bottle so this shouldn’t be any more difficult. Good luck man!
Ok life sucks. But you are still breathing today and because of it you have the chance to change it. Or don’t change it and stay miserable. I know people in recovery without a place to stay with huge bills with no car no job no license etc etc. These maybe “yets” for you still. Heck I was fired from a really good job sober had cancer sober etc etc etc. Get out there get involved with other recovering alcoholics. Make it not suck.
