I never really quite understood the waiting 12 months before dating after getting sober/clean but I just recently ended a relationship and I had been dating before I was a year clean but not by much but if I wasn't so strong in my program steps meetings surrounding myself by sober people I definitely could see myself maybe relapsing because it hurt pretty bad and I remember thinking immediately what am I doing all this for but then my sponsor told me what do you value more being sober or your relationship with this woman and I realize that it was my sobriety, moral of the story is these rules and steps are there for a reason today I'm a very grateful recovering addict alcoholic.
