Oh Help

I'm at my dad's retirement party and I'm almost a year sober... But I've already hit up my using friends.

Just advice for staying sober

Ohhh…well forget those using friends. You’re doing the right thing by getting on here and asking for help. Christopher said a lot of great things above. Play the tape back as well. You know what happens when you drink! Actually, maybe you should tell us what happens to Kristin when she drinks

I don't drink. I use meth and heroin. It's just I get this sick amount of anxiety being with family. And when I use I lose all the things that I've just built

Yes just don't use and block any using friends, get that out of your head that that's a option. I don't know for me using or drinking is not a option, people are dying out there and in my opinion your chances of surviving a relapse especially using that combination of drugs is less that of dying. If it's that bad around family'l maybe you should leave at some point you have to take care of yourself and be selfish. Go to a meeting maybe.

I been there. You same like they say in these rooms your "playing the tape back" you know what's going to happen if you hand with them so don't do it. Find some friends that are like minded as you are You got this!!

So, it’s it over? How’d it go? You doing ok?

Play it through, it’s not going to help. Your mind is lying to you. Take a few deep breaths and call someone in recovery. We fantasize that it’s going to take the pain away, but it’s a temporary solution. You will feel so much better if you can get through it without going to use after. Don’t go there, the mental prison is not worth it.

Thank God!! Did you turn away your using friends? If not, there's no judgement here. We just want you to get the help you need and come back quickly to your sobriety.
But if you made it home sober, then you're a frickin SuperHero and I hope you realize what a strong, powerful person you are; even though you felt a moment of weakness. Give yourself some praise - you deserve it!!! :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Thank you. I needed to hear that. That it won't actually make me feel better. I'm through the hard part. I'm now just getting to work, sober and feeling much better.

How are you doing?

You should be proud of yourself for reaching out and those who replied should be proud of their immediate advice and encouragement. We're all in this together. I'm so glad everything is ok, there's so many times I should have reached out and didn't. It never turned out well.

Check out the sober tip for today. You did the right thing.
