Oh how mental health can break your recovery. A support group is important to have but it's better to have have your mental health cared for

Hi Francisco! I totally understand, I have bipolar disorder and OCD and have had moments where I thought I was going to drink because I thought it was the only way to cope with the thoughts in my mind. What I have learned in my almost three years of sobriety is how much my sobriety has positively impacted my mental health. I still struggle with the depressive and manic episode, I still have anxiety and obsessive thoughts, but I know now that drinking only made things worse. You can do this! Keep reaching out while you are struggling, while having a support group won’t save you from relapse, talking to someone else will help break the cycle of thinking that can lead to relapse.

Hello: Being a "dual-diagnosis" person myself, with years of recovery, I'd say that they're both equally important. I have a support group. But I take my meds EVERY DAY and I make 12-Step meetings on a regular basis plus I have therapy once a week. If I didn't make meetings, the whole house would tumble down.

Yes, I can relate. But know you have support. You can always message me, I try to get back in a timely manner. The most important thing is to reach out when you start feeling unstable or unsure. It has helped me a ton to have a few people i can be completely honest with that won’t balk at my thoughts or ideas, and help talk me off the ledge.
