Ok so ive been to several AA meetings and some people referbto their alcoholism as an "Allergy"and others call it an incurable disease.i call it an Incurable disease only because i know if I relapse it will be the end for me.Im not sick i wasent told that i Needed to quit,i wasent coughing up blood,i just knew at my last rock bottom that to continue with this madness was certain death. So thats why i call it an incurable disease my opinion. Allegies to me can be solved with any medicines and to me trivializes my problem.again this is just my opinion
@jay432620 I'll start with this. Keep coming back.
I will refer you to The Doctors Opinion, pages xxvi, xxx, xxviii, of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous
Pg xxvi clearly states
The doctor’s theory that we have an ALLERGY to alcohol interests us. As a laymen, our opinion as to its soundness may, of course, mean little. But as exproblem drinkers, we can say that his explanation makes good sense. It explains many things for which we cannot otherwise account.
Pg xxx clearly states.
All these, and many others, have one symptom in common: they cannot start drinking without developing the phenomenon of craving. This phenomenon, as we have suggested, may be the manifestation of an ALLERGY which differentiates these people, and sets them apart as a distinct entity. It has never been, by any treatment with which we are familiar, permanently eradicated. The only relief we have to suggest is entire abstinence.
Pg xxviii clearly states
We believe, and so suggested a few years ago, that the action of alcohol on these chronic alcoholics is a manifestation of an ALLERGY; that the phenomenon of craving is limited to this class and never occurs in the average temperate drinker. These allergic types can never safely use alcohol in any form at all; and once having formed the habit and found they connot break it, once having lost their self-confidence, their reliance upon things human, their problems pile up on them and become astonishingly difficult to solve.
Now granted we all have our own opinions. My opinion is that opinions are like a$$holes everyone has one. Some stink more than others.
However you're new to soberity. My best opinion for you, being that you only have 146 days of sobriety, is to thoroughly research and reconsider your opinion.
Keep coming back you'll get it.
I said it was my opinion so as to be judged by your option reference and seemingly condescending reference to my amount of sobriety,You seem to have your tenure of sobriety as a status.I came to this app houng to avoid people like you who have seemed to have a clique and only socialize with people who have had long tenure of sobriety u would fit right in
You sound like those guys at my home group that I and my friends dont hang around because they dont associate with low sobriety tenure lol, you would fit in with them with your condescending remarks about my length of sobriety,
