Ok, still within the early stages of recovery. Does anyone has the surge of random emotions? Like it seems like I have no regulations of emotions. To combat this feelings of negative emotions. I’ve begun to have a mantra exercise, a breathing exercise, practice 5 minutes of gratitude, I’m doing a shadow work journal as well as a regular one, yoga, and a good long walk with some motivational encouragement playing in the headphones. Does anyone has any healthier ways or methods to help with this issue? Or should I say reaction?
Hey Tony! Sounds as if you are doing quite a bit to help yourself. It’s great that you’re aware of these feelings and are using tools to cope with them. I think you just need to be patient with yourself and trust the process. Most of us have been avoiding these emotions for many years, and just numbing them with substances. Now that we remove the substances, we are left with these surges that you are experiencing. Other than what you’re currently doing, maybe you can practice the acceptance prayer, and ask for the strength and courage to continue on this path of recovery. I guess what I’m saying is that you are doing well. Keep it up. Have faith that it will get better
Thank you, faith has been a problem area, the concept of not having control and letting go has been problematic. Control or lack there of is a hard pill for me to ingest.
I never really learned to work through my emotions in a healthy way because I used for 30 years. Sober 2.5 now and still learning. It’s a hard lonely road but the only person I can blame it myself.
I think you are wise and doing all the right things. Sometimes a good therapist can help too. Good luck.
Thank you. I just applied for one. It’s been lonely for a long time. And from what I’ve read self-isolation is common. Which I absolutely did. But at the same time hardcore selfish.
Self isolation is still a big issue for me. It is selfish, at time needed but shouldn’t be for long periods. I spend far too much time alone. Be confident in that it sounds like you are doing all the right things. And with that, good things will come. Best wishes
Thank you, I appreciate your wisdom, words, and all that you share.
Meetings might help.of any kind.
Thank you Dave I’m looking forward to finding a group near me.
