Okay… I’m not strung out, now what? I have no sense of direction. No self discipline. No structure. And i feel like such a failure for being where I’m at in life. I just want to find my purpose and figure out what I want in life and have some dreams to go after. Limbo feels almost as bad as active addiction
Go to a meeting and just listen.
You need to get plugged in.
It's only like this at first. Look, it takes 6 months to FULLY recover from brain chemistry changes. Which means AT LEAST 4 months of lethargy, lack of concentration, lack of motivation, irritability etc. It WILL get better but it's important to go to meetings and get "plugged in" as the gentleman above me said. Remember that sobriety is not recovery, only a PART of it. You still have to get to a point in your life where you will have your self confidence and drive back and that comes with learning and hearing the inspirational stories of other people, and that will give you hope and make you realize that everyone goes through what you're going through right now.
