My tip is to talk to your doctor. You might need some help getting through the first few days, that’s what they’re there for β€οΈβ€πŸ©Ή

AA is worth the effort if you are willing to do anything to get sober. I was told that I had to want sobriety more then anything else then the world in order for me to get sober.

Yes, I have a doctor's visit. It's hard to know what came first now, the alcoholism, the anxiety, or PTSD. So hopefully I can get a little help to make things more manageable.

I’m a week sober today after a three months of being sober. Just take it one day at a time.

One day at a time, trying to do that and be grateful for the little joys

Took a week for me to be able to eat, and much longer for me to feel normal. Going to the doctor's is a great idea. Maybe try being kind to yourself. If chocolate sounds good, have it. Your body is pretty beat up right now.
This could be the last time you ever have to go through this, if your willing to go to AA, do it. It's what I use. But there is also SMART recovery and some people I know love it.
Staying stopped, for this alcoholic, was impossible. Now, it's a daily miracle. There is hope!!!!
Congratulations on your first 24!

Thank you, I will look into SMART as well, I've never heard of it. Chamomile tea has been my favorite this last day, and now I've got 36 hours behind me and I was finally able to sleep a solid 6 hours and it felt amazing.

May I ask what triggered the relapse?

Margaret, I feel for you and understand what you’re going through. It’s tough but you’re even tougher. Anxiety and past traumas kept me drinking too. Alcohol is such a liar tho bc it not helping the problems, it’s making u more anxious and depressed. Do whatever you can to make it through and give yourself some grace. Take a bubble bath, go for a walk, watch a funny movie, ask for a hug, pray, meditate, aromatherapy, anything that takes you out of ur head and feels soothing. We’re here for you, keep it going!

AA meeting always helps for support.
It moves you through another day

It really does, so far I made it to my 2nd virtual meeting in two days. I wish I had joined AA a long time ago, so many supportive and amazing people

Hi Margaret, Good for you, on deciding to be a sober human! This is the really hard part. You can see that it is possible bc of the testimony of all of your supporters here. Staying sober and clean feels so good. I can make clear decisions. My girls have a new better version of their Mom back. I am a better daughter, sister, and friend.
I actually like my own company these days.
My faith in God has carried me through. You can do this ! The other side is so worth it!

Acceptance is important.

Please keep faith in God.

Talk to the people and get sober friends to communicate.
