On this Monday morning

Today our instructor left us with a story about a very young man who went missing over the weekend just a few blocks down where I live. She was close friends with him sharing that he walked home after a night out drinking on a party bus. His Lyft driver dropped him off 2 miles away from his apartment. Apparently, he was so intoxicated he did not know where he was but managed to FaceTime his friends & drop his location w/ 2% battery life left on his phone. They searched for a week. Yesterday, she found out he was hit by a car & is now fighting for his life. She told us to practice gratitude for we are fortunate to have made it to the mat this morning. I'm not sure why, but I left class feeling defeated. Which set the tone for the rest of my day and now into the evening. Is it normal to feel sad/down when we should know we are very fortunate? I can't seem to pin point why I feel this way as I do feel grateful, but shouldn't feeling grateful be a feeling of content? Or am I just buggin'? 😵‍💫
