Once again at day one! I can’t wake up hungover anymore! I’ve got to do whatever it takes. I don’t like AA meetings but I can’t do it alone anymore

Give it a chance. It’s a better option than what hasn’t been working for you. Give yourself a chance.

There are other support groups aside from AA, and as someone else said NA is an option to, they don’t care what you were addicted to they consider alcohol a drug. I find them different from AA (I was addicted to both alcohol and drugs). But there’s also celebrate recovery, refuge recovery, and some others I’m less familiar with but you’re right, it is impossible to do it alone. I speak from experience of trying to do it alone and failing miserably. I would see what’s out there and try and connect with some sober people. Having someone who’s been there and found a way out is amazing. I would do some research and reach out for help! You can do this! Someone at my rehab always said recover isn’t for those who need it, it isn’t even for those who want it, it’s for those who do it.

There are a bunch of options other than AA, if that doesn’t work for you. Refuge recovery, Luckiest Club, SMART sobriety, This Naked Mind/Alcohol Experiment group, etc. Take a dip in different groups until you find something that fits :slight_smile: You can do this!!

First step. Call your doctor. Tell them the absolute truth. You may need medical attention to stop safely.

Maybe try a good church. This helped me tremendously

Rodney you nailed it. I feel the same. Often I don’t feel like going, but I never regret it when it’s over. AA can vary a lot, my little group is much more laidback than most and we have mix na/aa and everyone’s ok with that.

In away I don’t know if you are supposed to like the meetings. Especially at first.

There are so many different kinds of meetings, I urge you to keep trying new ones until you have at least one you're comfortable with. You'll hopefully from there click with some fellows and they can guide you to New meetings as well. BEST OF LUCK :slightly_smiling_face:

Meetings are just a part of the program. I work a program every day but maybe 4 zoom meetings a week.
