One day at a time

I’ve been trying to quit drinking for over a month and the best I have done is a week. I’m on day 5 sober and really wanted a drink tonight. I picked up my phone open this app after reading several posts some of struggles, encouragement, and achievements. It’s just what I needed to talk myself through not making a drink. It really is a daily challenge and I’m glad y’all were here to help me get through today.

Keeping busy has been important for me. Find ways to be in service to others. Helping a neighbor shovel their driveway, help someone with their groceries, be a friend to someone else struggling. When you keep your mind busy looking for ways to serve others it keeps your mind away from drinking/using, gives you purpose, and it feels great to help someone!
