One of my goals in my recovery is to lose all the weight i gained because of my alcoholism.
When I wuit using meth 4 months ago I immediately gained 5 pounds and I knew this would be a trigger if my weight kept going up. I immediately made exercise and a healthy diet ( I have an app to count calories) and I found a friend who is also dieting. She supports both my recovery and weight loss journey daily and I support her. This has given me something to focus on with healthy goals and I am losing weight and feeling great..in turn keeping me clean from meth. You can do it too!
lm trying to lose weight, get back to gym, healthy diet. used to be gym rat, 6-7 days a week. got old. busy hip/knee pain. actually in hospital now. got hip replacement surgery yesterday. should be discharged today. when I was going to the gym like a maniac yrs ago it was 99% ego. trying to look good for her...or her (didn't know who "her" was). these days it all about health, wanting to be able to live longer, have more energy, not struggle to get dressed or go hiking, skiing, etc.
So weight lose was a byproduct of quitting alcohol. I loose close to 50 lbs. . I got up every morning and walked several miles. i found that If I didn’t I felt terrible the days I didn’t.
Give yourself grace staying sober - many people gain weight when quitting their DOC because they get hungry for a change and start eating - I gained a bunch of weight my first year and then it all came off and more - take care
Yes! Especially Meth users. Meth stimulus the Amygdala area of the brain responsible for many emotional feelings, feeling full and dopamine increases. Take that away and you eat like a horse all of a sudden.
