One Step, One Breath
In the quiet of dawn, a choice is made,
A single step where shadows fade.
No grand parade, no thunder's roar,
Just one small act to open the door.
Sobriety whispers, soft and slow,
A seed to plant, a chance to grow.
Baby steps, so small they seem,
Yet each one builds a waking dream.
One day at a time, the heart takes flight,
No weight of past, no future's fight.
Be here, be now, let moments bloom,
Unveiled by haze, no clouded gloom.
The world unfolds, raw and clear,
No lens of pain, no veil of fear.
A cup of coffee, a laugh, a breeze,
Small joys stack high with gentle ease.
From timid steps, long strides emerge,
A steady heart begins to surge.
Each sober dawn, a brick is laid,
A life reclaimed, a debt repaid.
The grand arrives in humble guise,
In fleeting nows, the soul does rise.
One breath, one choice, one honest day,
Sobriety carves the sacred way.

Probably one of the greatest gifts I got back, because of my sobriety, was my creativity. Somewhere in my pursuit of escaping the hard things in life, I got disconnected.
Today, I am grateful to have found it again.
