One week sober and I’m proud of my self! Why?

One week sober and I’m proud of my self! Why? Because it’s the first week I’ve actually fought for my sobriety in my life.

Keep up the good fight. One battle down, more to go and feel courageous for each fight won until you will genuinely victorious and just think we are on your side and you never have to go at it alone. Happy Thanksgiving.

Thank you my friend. I’ve really hurt my ex girlfriend this year with constantly relapsing, it’s really hard today especially not knowing what she’s doing and not hearing from her. I’m not going to use over it but it’s affecting my emotional sobriety.

Until you are able to face yourself and allow yourself to feel this pain we can't forgive ourselves. Think about it, that's why we self medicate. You wanna truly see her forgive you or maybe she won't. Accept your choices and believe you have another day to reinvent your life. Choose for you not for approval from her to say I'm sorry because we know that. Before my sobriety was dependent on other people seeing me clean and then expecting to get back what I already ruined. When I quit doing sobriety for external validation , I only had to focus on me and truly and I mean truly everything falls into place. You are talking to a man who didn't believe or have faith in anything. Well, I saw where that got me until the only choice I had was true surrender. You can do this brother. Take one thing at a time and embrace the pain, the sooner you are able to do this, the sooner true happiness in self will be had. Guaranteed.

Frank I believe you, thank you for you words! I am afraid to face myself, I’m afraid of being with someone. But I understand what you mean when you say forgive myself and do recovery for myself. I’ve been trying to do it for her for over a year. That was a mistake because I’ve never truly focused on me. Thank you for the perspective, I really needed that.

I know, because I did the same thing.

That’s awesome! You should be proud because it’s not easy! :raised_hands:t3::heart:
