Find things to do that are fun for you. You have to live a sober life that you enjoy, so go find out what you like doing now that alcohol is not taking up all your time. For me, I got into running & lifting, kayaking, frisbee golfing with my son, things like that. It’ll be different for everyone, but the point is, go find things you enjoy doing and DO THEM. You’ll find that sobriety can be a blast. Once you learn to love living sober, the alcohol will be less of a temptation. Also, don’t forget meetings, they are vital.
Build a network of support. There is gonna be days that it isn't easy. The right safety net helps. Finding things to keep busy is important, but there will be days that isn't enough, you need people who support you there.
Making sober friends and opening up about struggles was essential for me after rehab. Working with a sponsor was the big difference for me.
Thank you all!!! It’s such a struggle!
