One year without heroin is hard to believe. I pretty

One year without heroin is hard to believe. I pretty much lost everything and everyone I cared about but am thankful to still be breathing.

If you’re struggling just hang on! The hardest part is making the decision to quit, it truly is.

I first got sober at the end of 2018 and was doing great for 6 months but deep down I didn’t want to quit, I just had to for my marriage and career. I relapsed and slowly watched life implode.

It took me losing a loving wife, my house and job for me to see that I had to want it for me. Because no one is stopping me from getting high now but I have simply lost the urge to use and the obsession is gone. And all I had to do was decide to do it.

Life is far from perfect and although I’m struggling financially I know it’s only temporary.

Hope everyone has a great memorial weekend!

Sorry for all the wreckage. It seems that we all have to go thru our own living he!l before we decide enough is enough. I’m happy to hear you made it out alive and are putting your life back together again. We are blessed to have a choice today :peace_symbol:

Great perspective. Sounds like you’re aware of who you are and why you’ve had difficulty. That’s a pretty good place to grow from. Keep it up! Here’s to a safe and sober Memorial weekend!

Man that means a lot to hear… no alcoholic or addict ever hears inspiration. I hope this helped you and anyone struggling today but I hardly feel like an inspiration. Even after a year I only feel like I’m maybe 60% of where I want to be. But sober is good enough any day.

Amazing man! Congrats. I quit narcotics last April. Then alcohol. Then pot. The smokes. I’m still in chewing tobacco but hoping to quit that this year.

It’s not an easy thing to do after a lifetime of abuse.

Stay well friend.

Hells yeah! Quitting smoking has been the hardest thing I’ve done believe it or not! I quit about a month ago after making it 8 weeks and then smoking again for a month or so before putting it back down. I hate the stink, the uselessness and money waste that is nicotine
