Our modern privileges make it increasingly easier to self-isolate. A tragic convenience. We know it’s not healthy. But it’s just so easy..

Ain't that the truth. It's Ironic that means of communication have technologically improved exponentially but we are more alone now than ever in many cases :unamused:

We are in a serious adjustment phase with tech. Learning how to use it as a tool and not let it use us.. got an uphill battle ahead of us especially with all this AI becoming accessible too..

Yeah I waffle between being horrified about the prospects of AI and being completely comfortable that singularity isn't happening any time soon.....it just depends on the expert I'm listening to on a given podcast . There doesn't seem to be a consensus on the dangers of AI 🤷. Regardless, it will hit you in LA first if shiz goes sideways ...give me a heads up in the event that happens lol. Oh and I recommend SMART group meetings over AA for you if you want to avoid isolation. I'm with a SMART group that meets up and does activities like hiking and sports in addition to group meetings. I'm not sure if they are all like that but something to look into :+1:. Good luck out there

Yea I just saw your comment on another thread about SMART. Just looked into it. Thanks for the info. Recent discussion I saw about AI with Jordan Peterson and Jim Keller was refreshingly optimistic and I liked how it was framed by Keller. And hey, it’s possible evil ai robots hit smaller towns as experimental test runs before hitting larger cities :eyes: or wherever old abandoned factories lay to waste  ANYWAYS thanks for the luck. Can never have too much. Right back atcha :four_leaf_clover:

I just watched this lecture by Kurt Vonnegut, and he mentions tech and being a Luddite all throughout. Worth a listen, was such an awesome guy.

Our modern privileges can often be the opposite. Another source of addiction and dependence. Quitting things like screens can be as difficult as substances like alcohol. Your point is poignant.

Can’t believe I never responded to this that lecture was absolutely epic and thanks for putting me on Kurt V. Legend.

Waiting for the brewing counter-culture to become the new mainstream. The future is an exciting unknown..

My pleasure.
