Over and over again

Last night, I heard myself say out loud, "Maybe I will have a drink." And that doesn't mean "maybe" when I say it. Very disappointed in myself. Starting over again.

It’s so positive to pay attention to your words, helps you know what’s inside. It’s our stinking thinking that keeps us sick. Find meetings stay in the solution. I still struggle also. So I feel your frustration.

Hi Damien, happy to hear you are going back to your recovery and not giving up. Keep fighting, and moving forward. I would guess that there is guilt and shame, those are very hard feelings to carry with you. You need to forgive yourself, however that looks for you. My last lapse I was so ashamed, so hurting, so ready to just tell myself I really can't do this, but you know what, I can do this and I kept trying. Over 32 months today and life is going pretty decently overall. I also learned that a lapse does not mean you completely start over, you have learned some things from your sober time before, that does not go away, you are growing, developing a whole new way of living and that takes time. Don't beat yourself up, forgive yourself and keep going, one day at a time!

That’s OK. It happens. The important thing is not stay down about it, but get back up and press forward.

take it easy on yourself. hopefully it was just a lapse and not a full blown relapse. even if it was a full blown you can only take it one day at a time. you slipped up it’s okay that’s your journey towards sobriety. stay strong stay safe !!
