I was one who immediately started drinking and smoking at a young age. I came from a family that worked hard and played hard. Communicating was always much easier after some Mexican food and a few margaritas. I have/had two older sisters that spent most of their life in AA both recovered for 20 -30 yrs or more. They took to AA like a duck to water. I however never did take to AA. Out of us three I was seen as having the least problems. I was sober for 15 years and I always cherish my sobriety. I love being in control and being clear minded and I did not need a big support big group. It wouldn’t bother me I could go to parties and do everything I normally did but I just didn’t drink or smoke anymore. Unfortunately I had some champagne on a big milestone birthday and what happens to me is I’m a creature of habit and get caught in a loop of having drinks. I know once I get several days/ weeks under my belt I can succeed but that’s the hardest part right?

Wow, thanks for sharing and reaching out. You are reminding yourself of what you love about being sober. Start another day one, today I will not drink/use. Remind yourself what you hate about drinking. You got this.
