this was me every night, alone and blacked out. Looking at it is a good reminder to stay sober, my mind tricks me into thinking those times were fun- clearly not
And I was hardly painting those days! Now I keep myself busy and get to continue to work on my painting instead of being too hungover to get out of bed or too drunk to paint
The mind in time tries to subdue and soften traumatic and bad experiences. It always succeeds to some degree. I still have the holes in my bedroom wall for about 2 yrs now. Your painting gives me an idea. I should take a pic then fix the holes but put the pics there.
prayers always
It was hard to paint, the night of one of my traumatic experiences. But working on it kind of helped close that chapter. I’m sure patching the holes will help patch up that time in your life too!
This picture actually brought up some feelings for me. I used to go out by myself and do the same thing.
Only bad things come out of nights like those… so glad not to have to worry about myself like that anymore. All the best to you and your sobriety
You're right it's time I fixed the holes and had closure in that part of my life and move on.
Thank you it means alot. I'm 18 months sober this go round. If you ever want to chat
Also I’d say to myself “at least I don’t drink alone” sometimes I think it would have been safer.. and clearly I WAS alone!
Thanks! You’re so right, glad I’m not blacking out like that anymore. It’s very scary and self destructive.
Send some pics when you do!
The scars on my head or the wall. Lol still not funny actually quite pathetic
I can completely relate to that painting. & you are extremely talented! Happy to see you thriving in your sober journey!
Glad you could relate. Thank you so much you too!
Wow! You are very talented. I'm sure if I put some thought in to it that mine would look similar.
Glad you’re not drinking anymore and going back to painting. I sometimes create a blanket fort and spend time coloring. It’s amazing how calming that is. Coloring is very therapeutic!
That’s an amazing painting—glad you’re back to it! Too good not to do it. I hate how addictions suck the joy and beauty out of things like that.
Incredible talent
That's really "something else," as they say. I think that you have nailed it.
Thank you! And you should.. it takes my mind off of drinking for sure
Yes it is! It’s one of the times I don’t think about anything when I’m doing it
