Part of my recovery is accepting the things I have done and realizing I can't fix them. What I can do is not make those same mistakes and learn from my faults. Be quick to listen and slow to speak. Never talk when I'm angry. Know when to walk away and be kind to everyone; they can be having a bad day too. AA has taught me to put others first because they've been putting me first from the beginning. Sobriety is not an easy walk. You become guilty and remorseful, soften up and express emotion, but can be very rewarding; if you decide to heal. Taking the first step was my smartest decision.
