Playing with fire

Because...well that’s what I’ve always done. Still sober but still finding myself circling back to step 3 constantly. I keep trying to give over my will. I keep failing to do it thoroughly. Any tips?

Well that's tricky. In this step we're making a decision to turn our will over but as human beings we obviously can't guarantee this. I mean I take back mine quite often even though I've made the decision sincerely. I think if the desire to learn how to do it is there, then that is sufficient to move forward. For me personally I stayed on 3 for way too long but my reasons were maybe different that yours. I was stuck on 3 because I didn't want to face or do 4 and that's the truth. The 4th they say is what separates the men from the boys or ladies from the girls lol. That's where the real work starts. You don't want to gloss over 3 but you really want to get to 4 because for me that's where the magic and the recovery started. Good luck

I made a god box and writing down things I was trying to turn over and then physically putting them in was really helpful!

Whenever I start taking my will back I try to remind myself, and I'll say this aloud even if I'm at work, "Attitude & actions Logan, that's all you can control".:pray:

I love that idea!

Fearless moral inventory. Ouch

My recommendation would be to stop trying give over your will and focus on will power. Personal accountability can be empowering and liberating. It has gotten me through 3.5 years without coming close to a slip up, and I’ve had to navigate a few of the most difficult life situations so far while sober… there are other ways to get and stay sober besides AA.
