Giving up is not an option anymore I’m going in head first
Throw yourself into hobbies and activities. Reading, coloring (I found out how therapeutic this can be first hand) and other activities. This worked for me when I kicked freebasing and alcohol. Constructing a blanket fort doesn’t hurt either…
what controls my urges to get high is remembering that if I continue to get high I'll never be able to have kids someday and that I'll lose my 6year relationship I have with my boyfriend. hes been 2 years sober and he said that if I didnt quit too that he was gonna eventually leave me. i had 2 slip ups in December 2022. slip up relapses can happen at anytime and that's part of being any kind of addict not just for meth so if you quit now and end up having a relapse 3 weeks down the road for one night then dont beat yourself up for it because it happens sometimes in life. it's that you own up to it and dont try to do it again and recognize and stay away from any potential triggers is what's important for your sobriety. for me its remembering what I have and what could be is what keeps me sober other than the fact I got tired of feeling guilt and shame every time I got high on meth not to mention my wallet thanks me and the casino was probably tired of seeing me gamble a lot in the past too other than the fact of just taking my money from me. if you have things worth living for or a dream to accomplish then think about how that will never happen in youre entire lifetime or how you will lose those things or people forever in your lifetime every time you relapse or get high if you have a hard time staying sober. think about how 5 to 10 years of prison would feel like too because not one person I know has gotten lucky with staying out of jail or prison from using meth and if you do you're lucky and if you have nothing worth fighting for in life then make something worth living for for yourself that you dont want to lose forever and find some new hobbies and not stuff that you did while you were getting high too. I tried hobbies and did stuff that I used to do while I got high and that didnt help it was all just a retrigger for me so do something new that you didnt do while you were high and dont talk to the same people and go to the same places that you used to get high at. I had genuine friendships with 4 people I used to get high with and I told them all up front that I had to 86 them out of my life until i had my head up in the game enough that i was no longer controlled by wanting to use meth anymore that it no longer had control over me. so I haven't been talking to them for a while now. I want to be able to become a mother someday and bear my own children especially with the guy I'm in the long haul with right now and losing him and losing my job and destroying my body just wasnt going to be in my deck of cards anymore and look i know that you and I are complete strangers to each other but sweetheart I believe in you and if I can get off an almost 10 year meth addiction then I know you can quit too. the first 21 days are going to be your hardest. nourish your body with vitamins and nutritional foods and surround yourself with close ones whether it be family or friends heck even animals it just has to be in an environment of non users or people who are triggers for you. I personally don't have much for friends that dont use so I hang around my animals and I talk to my boyfriend and my parents and people at work. just remember you're not aloneeespecially in this part of your journey. you dont have to stop.talkng to me too if you dont want to too coming from the same addiction I understand a lot. also some form of exercise helps stay sober too it helps ease the stress in life and puts out the feel good feelings inside you. I go for walks and bicycle rides with my headphones on and it helps me maybe it can help you too.i hope you have a blessed day
Because of the way meth affects the brain, it can be hard to find joy in other things for a while after you quit. This will get better though and I think it’s important to remember that. Our brains heal. Anything that increases dopamine naturally like exercise and certain foods can help. As for cravings, they pass too. I play out the tape-the misery it caused me. The sleepless nights, the harm I inflicted on my body, the wreck it made of my career and my worry and pain I caused my family. That’s meth. Crystalized pain and disgust in myself. It’s not a high, it’s the destruction and pain that invariably follows. I’m 3 years sober now. You can do it. It will get better. Work your program, reach out for support. You’re not alone.
Ok that makes a lot of sense. Downers have always been my DOC, thought I would never get hooked on meth and only would use it too make music and too stay up off the insane amount of fent I was on.
Since my mom passed last January though it has been the only thing helping me through the day but it destroys so much more. I was just sober for two weeks but used yesterday and have been up hating myself for it since. I will keep pushing and I hope you all will too, we are stronger than we think
We got this
Hey girly.
Opiates, is what got me into recovery but I've struggled w meth addiction before.
I get a shot each month, it's called vivitrol
It's used for alcoholics and opiate users but studies say and I've heard people say it helps w meth cravings too.
Just some food for thought, it's helped my cravings for everything and I've been sober over 90 days now!
Hey, I have my 18 years coming up from that. It was an insane journey. I did a recovery plan with my family doctor at the time to stop. He gave me meds to help with breakdowns. I also had my mom to support me and give me a place while I did the plan. I went into a 3 month recovery treatment center and cut ties with every single person. I came out and had to start a new life from scratch.
It worked. They gave me tools for cravings. I also joined meditation type things to get through cravings. There were a few things and tools I worked with like starting the gym to get my daily dopamine dose. And what kept me on the path was my vision and love of a future family and a dream of my own house one day. I guess just a dream of a beautiful life that would never happen if I continued to use. I also had a good support circle that would let me vent. I remember those first few years and it was always in my mind still... I actually had a dream about it the other day ...even now lol crazy ! And yes many struggles come up and each time they did I got myself back to therapy, groups and counseling. Heck I still struggle. I'm on here dealing with the alcohol thing , and that's a whole new ball game cause you can't escape it its everywhere.
I'm happy to say it's been 18 years and I'm there. Beautiful family of my own and working from home
Keep your visions and dreams strong! Get a good recovery plan in place and stick to it! The craving go away with time. It's the same work as morning a death. Only time heals.
It's soooooo worth it . Life is so beautiful on the other side
