A week ago we learned about HOW (honesty, openness, and willingness) as a common phrase in recovery and we focused on honesty. Today, let’s focus on openness.
Openness is difficult for most people in recovery. Much of the time, addicts and alcoholics feel that if people really knew who they were and how they felt, they would not like them. Often this is not true, and it is our mind’s way of letting negative thoughts hold us back.
Making small, daily choices to share with others will help you grow and develop spiritually.
Action for the Day
Today try being more open with people you trust. Try sharing at a meeting and see what happens. Notice how others respond to your openness. Do they feel more comfortable sharing with you in return?
Thought for the Day
“Progress, not perfection.”
