I’ve learned to deal with problems head on as they come, so that they don’t fester into nagging thought loops. I would say the best skill my sobriety has given me is problem solving. Once I solved a few then I asked, what else can I do? Just now learning that it’s keeping track of my progress that keeps me going & want to solve more. To truly LEARN something you have to change the behavior. So to learn to solve problems you have be able to recognize them first. Once recognized then break it down, ask why is it a problem. Lastly we have to be willing to do the hard work of finding the solution. What can I do today to solve this, and if there’s nothing we can do, let it go.
