I just celebrated two months of sobriety yesterday.
Definitely much harder this time around, to put it mildly. My trauma has been much closer to the surface. It’s really been affecting my sleep, & my anxiety has been really terrible. I’ve been talking to my therapist, & I’m going to give EMDR a try later this month. Any advice for me I would be grateful for. Bea has been such a comfort, and my apartment has begun to feel more like a safe sanctuary. Not much furniture at the moment, but I don’t even mind. It’ll come together in time.
(Pictured below is the little breakfast nook I made for myself.)
I’ve been focusing on staying calm at work. People have been extra challenging, and with the holidays coming up, it’s going to be tough. But I’m trying my best to focus on the things I can control. That’s all I can do.
Wishing all of you a terrific weekend. 🫶🫶🫶
It sounds like you don’t need much advice. Seems you are doing al the right things. Celebrate yourself and be proud! Nice work!
Thank you very much!
I do really like seeing your posts and kind of learning about your methodical and consistent approach to your recovery. Like David said, just keep it up! Even when it's hard, you will heal in time and with implementing good, healthy practices. Nice work Rachel!
A M A Z I N G you are doing great!
EMDR helped me so much with my trauma after Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times. Great choice, it's not easy doing it. Stay with it to the end and you'll thank yourself. Best of luck to you. Stay strong and Brave
Keep an attitude of gratitude and a plan B with phone numbers even at work.
You have demonstrated that you do have gratitude and patience in your example of your nook and the furniture.
Good job. Keep up all the good work. Inside and out.
I really like EMDR. I hope it works for you. It has helped me immensely.
Keep reaching out. Never walk alone.
Your breakfast plate looks like it’s wearing a monocle
Focus on ONE thing at a time and you will be fine! Congrats on 2 Months with many more to hopefully come!!
Great job!
