Even when I was drinking, "cocktail party" type people annoyed me, so C. More annoyed.
In early sobriety it felt a bit ackward, just wondering what to do with my hands and what to say.
Today it's indifference. Not everyone drinks at these type of events and very few drink like I used to drink.
Well said - I know exactly what you mean. Amateur hour…
In early sobriety I wouldn’t even try to go. Now… I would order a mock tail and join in the fun. I am a big fan of ginger ale and pineapple juice
When I owned who I was, I quit being embarrassed by anything I was.
All of the above. Other for now I prefer to stay away. I started my sobriety May 1 of 2021. recently relapse three days ago it’s been my fourth time. I get very annoyed with myself. I know sobriety is the only way for me to go that’s the best version of me.
Amen!
All 3
None of the above, really. If you're good at socializing people should hardly notice the fact that you're sober or otherwise. Carry drink of ice water and if anyone says anything just say you're not drinking tonight.
No wasn't my style.
Not sure I’d go to a “cocktail party” to begin with. But where I’m at, booze at functions is a given. So I’m going to answer with C. Other. Makes me not really care. I’m sober and living that lifestyle and I don’t associate with dbags who will put me down for not drinking in the first place any ways.
Plus I’m more cool than the drunks at the party any ways. So it’s a win win for me.
C. Ambivalent? I join, stay for awhile, but exit before people are doing and saying things they will regret.
C. Like I’m an introvert (and maybe don’t even enjoy parties as much as my boozy-extroverted-alter-ego thought I did)…
Sounds empowered to me, but what do know lol
Empowered sounds like you almost want recognition for choice to not drink. I don't really look it as either or.
