Question about drinking

I no longer get intoxicated, I have not been intoxicated for over a year. But I have a drink every day. I have PTSD and a high level of anxiety.
This drink every day means that I don’t take Xanax. What are your thoughts? Thank you❤️

You have a very high tolerance for alcohol. If you intend to quit then take it slow and don't do it cold turkey as withdrawals can kill you. If you need help go to a hospital and they will help you detox! Prayers and blessings for you hon.

So, one drink a day? I am confused by your comment

How many drinks do you have a day? I also have high anxiety and drinking calmed all of that. I no longer drink at all and have started therapy with the hopes on getting on some meds to help with my anxiety. I have started journaling and finding thinking’s to keep me busy. It is hard but talking about what is happening and finding out what triggers my anxiety is a work in progress. Hang in there.

I feel like this is a question best answered by yourself and your doctor (and maybe loved ones). If your one drink per day isn’t negatively affecting anything in your life then it seems reasonable to me (but I’m not a dr or a loved one…so not sure I’m best suited to answer but I tried providing my non-biased opinion…)

If you gotta ask..
Xanax is like handing over control. So is alcohol. Give it up!

Choosing to drink or take a prescription is highly personal and no one can answer this for you. I have taken medication for my mental health for years, I wouldn't be able to keep employment otherwise. Also suffer from anxiety and PTSD. Currently receiving Ketamine therapy that is literally saving my life. I couldn't handle alcohol, but I was drinking about 20 seltzers per day... killing myself slowly. Each of us are unique and our bodies/minds react to everything a bit differently. I would take your concerns to an MD, one who hopefully specializes in addiction. I personally wouldn't take medical or mental health advice from those who are not professionally qualified to give it!
