Realization!

I’ve really come to the realization that I relapse so many times…. It really becomes apparent to me because I haven’t changed my people, places, and things! On to another day to keep trying and attending meetings & keep my sober friends! :yellow_heart::pray: Anyone have any tips of relapse prevention!?

With my experience I have found that relapse is a choice. I needed to make a true commitment to myself first. Do I really want to stay clean? Once I was able to answer yes then, I had to take action and follow suggestions that have helped so many others. Changing people places and things is hard. Breaking ties is hard. Taking time for yourself is hard. It was also shared with me to take the word try out of my vocabulary. IT IS WORTH IT. YOU ARE WORTH IT.

I believe that you’ll relapse a few times until you learn your triggers. The second thing that’ll make you relapse is you. You need a breaking point, something that makes you go “I’m fucken done with this, I deserve to live”. Then the hard work becomes a little easier because you want to be better. Talk to yourself like you are talking to your best friend. And honestly if you do not make the changes of people, places and things nothing for you will change because why should it if it “works” for you. Keep your head up.

To second what's already been stated, relapses can be educational, if you choose to learn from them. Find out what triggered each relapse and guard against it in the future. For me, the best guard against a relapse is a strong program of recovery. I had the gift of desperation. I did what was suggested, got a sponsor, and worked the steps

Talk to people BEFORE you pick up a drink and relapse; think it all the way through. Will you really feel better after you pick up?

I’ll have a year on 4/9. I make a point to hangout in the tv lounge in my sober house. I can’t stay in my room because idle time is my enemy.

Act as if your life depends on it. Because it does!

People places &
Things is why everyone relapse. Find new people and go to new places and try something you never done before w/0 drugs

Excellent reply very true

That level of awareness is huge seriously. Recognizing the patterns around people, places, and things is one of the most powerful steps you can take. You’re already doing the work by showing up, reflecting, and staying connected.

Most importantly, don’t let past relapses define you they can teach you. You’re still here, still trying, and that matters more than anything. One day at a time

Pray , And just dont do it.

Play the tape all the way to the end! It may start out like fun, but always ends in misery. My sponsor used to tell me "guilt, remorse, and shame".
