Really hoping I can make it through the weekend sober

Really hoping I can make it through the weekend sober. I turned down an invite at a friend's house for an Octoberfest gathering, which is always nothing but people standing around, guzzling beer while their kids entertain themselves. I've chosen to go to a family friendly festival instead.

Seems like the right choice for you and where you’re at. Nice work!

I’ll add that there may be times where you think ‘I’ll never be able to do x, or I’ll never be able to go to y’. And those thoughts…suck. But, for me, as I gotten further along in my sobriety I’ve realized I can do all the things as long as I’m in the right head space and with the right people.

For instance, I’ve never been to Nashville. I want to go for my birthday next month. So I asked my cousin (who’s aware of my sobriety journey) and we’re doing it :muscle:t2:.

Like I said, it takes time, but my point is sobriety gets easier with time and it (hopefully) won’t feel like such a grind. It’s a choice you’ve made to be a happier and healthier you.
Hope the weekend is a great one Clay!
