Hi Ashley, don’t give up those 11 months. I promise you drinking won’t make things better. When I’m feeling the urge I like to write out a gratitude list and then write out all the reasons to stay sober. You got this, find an alternative distraction, possibly a meeting, or talking to a sober friend.

Hi Ashley, It was a rough holiday for myself also. Tis the season they say. We made it, that's what counts. You're just shy of a yr so I say congratulations and Happy New Year. Stay strong. Best of luck.

Don't believe the BIG LIE; that this time things will be different because they never are, are they? You have to play the scene all the way forward and think about what is going to happen. You might feel good for a while but sooner or later you're going to be right back where you are right now having to deal with your emotions and the challenges sober people face in life.

The bad part about it all is that life doesn't get easier but we get better at handling life. One of the great truths is that life is tough. Once we accept the fact that life is tough, the fact that life is tough no longer matters and we find ourselves learning how to excel in life.

Normal people make this look so easy. We alcoholics are used to picking up a drink to fix all our problems and they never get any better. They just keep piling up. When life brings you down you really need to have phone numbers of sober people that have been sober for a while and you should be going to meetings as much as possible. That's how I did it and I have almost 8 years.

How about we turn those last few rough days into a few happy days. Have you tried getting with your support people? Make calls? Get out of yourself and maybe hit a meeting? All kinds of way to turn those days into something positive. Sharing this is a good start to fix it. Hope you keep hanging in there. You’ve been doing awesome.
