Recently celebrated five years. Struggling a lot as I

Recently celebrated five years. Struggling a lot as I try to make one of the first major transitions proactively in my sobriety. Financially with no help (which I’m used to because I’ve been doing it since my late teens). Emotionally because I don’t have a lot of support. And psychologically because breaking lifelong patterns is TOUGH. But I have to take the advice I give to my coaching clients and really wrap my head around the fact that just because something feels comfortable and familiar, doesn’t mean it is healthy. Between my dad dying and two other friends dying in the last eight months, all three related to alcohol and drug abuse, this year is really testing my commitment.

Still grateful to be sober. Most days.:heart:

Congrats on 5 years:tada::tada:. While giving advice and helping others with their struggles is both admirable and a blessing, it’s not a substitute to helping oneself. You are not alone with this struggle. I like to “fix” others too. It feels good and validates me. Today I’m more mindful of making sure I have a strong daily program of recovery. It’s definitely easier for me to focus on others, but today I make time for me. I can’t afford to get lost again. It’s great that you recognize this now. You know what to do. Even a coach needs a coach sometimes. Get back to basics. I didn’t do it in time, and it almost cost me everything I had accomplished over many years of “sobriety”. This is a great start! Let’s go…:peace_symbol:❤‍🩹
