Recovering addict

I know most people here are recovering alcoholics (or at least it seems that way) but is anyone else here also a recovering addict?

My drug of choice was meth. I began using after I quit drinking 4 years ago and recently got clean from it too. Just curious to see how many others also struggled with drug addiction in addition to, or instead of, alcohol addiction like me.

I have 54 days clean from meth and over 4 years sober from alcohol. :tada:

I've been clean from heroin/Dilaudid since 2006. Sober for almost 11 months now.

Across the board for me. Booze has always been my main thing. My first 20 years was mainly booze with drugs mixed in here & there. I had a 6+ year sobriety, but my 7-year relapse was meth and booze, been clean & sober from that since May of 2021.

I struggled with everything. It’s never the what it’s the why. Why do we need to do what we do to make it through each day. I wanted anything that would change the way I felt.

Kelli I’m not an addict but my 31 year old daughter is and she has been clean from heroin 5 years! She moved from NC to Dallas in order to get away from old people and acquaintances. She has recently moved back to NC but she is 3 1/2 hours away from home. She’s a Paralegal and is going to law school in August!!!! Super proud of her

I am a recovering addict from crack cocaine. Done other drugs but that seemed to be my go to. I am 13 days clean now. Almost made it 9 months but had a relapse. I am doing great now and plan to continue doing well.

It's cool to see I'm not alone. Happy for all of you who have achieved sobriety from whatever your drug of choice was. Every day matters, no matter if it's day one or day one thousand, etc. I keep reminding myself, just one day at a time. Sometimes I have to say just one minute at a time. I'm hitting the wall now and while I'm not really worried about relapse, I'm just feeling blah and bored which sucks. I'm going to go to a meeting here in an hour so maybe that'll perk me up a bit. Sometimes recovery is lonely, especially after having to distance myself or cut off certain people that aren't good for my sobriety. I guess that's why I'm here, to make new, like minded friends.

Nice work. Over the years, I have taken/ingested nearly every drug known except for the horse (heroin). Been clean from drugs for many years and have been sober for 12 1/2 years. It’s a long journey, dear but you are so on track and you have a great support network here. Good on you!:hugs::100:

I cut off everyone from my life that uses. I now have technically no friends and three acquaintances left that I still talk to. I have never been more alone in my life. But I started to realize its okay to be alone I am getting to know myself more and work on issues and other things I never have
