I personally started with the NA basic text, the NA step working guide workbook, the NA How it works and why (NA's 12 & 12) and the NA daily meditation: Just for today book, the NA living clean: The journey continues book. Then I went on to the AA big book and the AA 12 steps & 12 traditions book. Most of those can be found online for free or in recovery apps.
Recently I've been hearing about a book on recovery by Russell Brand. I will eventually take a look at that book as well.
This Naked Mind by Anne Grace was recommend a bunch of times when this same question was asked just today on FB. I haven’t read it yet but

Thanks so much Tim! I will definitely check them out.
Thanks Miguel!
No problem, you're welcome.
I have an AA and NA book as well as 12&12 AA, there are some great apps for free from hazeldon that are AA related like 24 hours and Inspirations that I also read as well as the Daily Reflections app which is a mobile version of the Daily Reflections book.
Thanks Brandon!

Thank you!
That’s great! Thanks so much!
Thank you all for all of the recommendations. I will be off to a great start with this list!
This book helped me change my way of thinking entirely! Great book.
Not Drinking Tonight by Amanda white
I’m going to. I watched a couple of you tube videos of hers and anxious to get it. The whole AA thing, I think, is a a factor in my ability to not be able to fully stop before I actually did this time, as I was convinced it was the “only” thing that worked. Well, that and I probably wasn’t done done yet, lol. I’ve been sober for the first time for over 4 months now since I was a r teen and I’m not really struggling. In fact it has been surprisingly easy:man_shrugging:t3: thank you for the time to reach out to me. It is apprecieated!

Refuge Recovery by Noah Levine. Essentially a Buddhist AA that also has Zoom classes.
Also, read for pleasure and drugless escapism too! I know that I can get recovery fatigue and just want to get lost in a novel or two with tea and a cookie or four...
-Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous
-12 steps and 12 traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous
-Living Sober
-Daily Reflections
All these can be found at your local AA meeting hall. Also, you can contact AA central office in your area.
12 stupid things that mess up recovery and 12 things to do when the booze and drugs are gone
My suggestion read the program of your choice’s how too book. Mine is the big book of AA. It’s the only book you’ll need to read in early recovery. Work the program as if your life depends on it (because it does). In my experience getting sober takes work and a fair amount of it. Reading various “feel good” literature books likely won’t build a foundation of lasting recovery. This takes work and luckily for us there are programs that are proven to give a solid outline to do that work if you choose to do so. Sobriety is a way of life and in my opinion 12 step programs are the way to change your life and behaviors to have a very reasonably healthy and happy life. Please do the real work. I care about your sobriety and you are worthy of putting this terrible disease into remission
