...isn't just about sobriety from alcohol. That's just one aspect in my journey. A lot of it has been brain training and a lot of rewiring with CBT, REBT, ACT, and DBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy). I can change my way of thinking about myself - I can change my way of thinking to be my authentic self. I am capable of change. It might get messy, weird, uncomfortable. In changing, though, I can adapt and roll with the punches. I may not recognize success in the moment but I can look back and acknowledge "wow, I actually did this."
Finding what works for me and using it to my benefit is the discovery in my recovery. If something doesn't stick, letting it go for now and maybe coming back to it later has helped me out down healthy boundaries for myself.
I'm never gonna tell anyone what to do and if it ever comes off as that then consider it a suggestion. Advice was always something that rubbed me the wrong way. If it works cool. If it don't that's cool, too. Keep the hope alive. discover, learn, and grow - I owe that to myself.
