I like Russell Brand’s interpretation of the 12 steps, it’s a modernization that unpacks for me what the “spiritual awakening” is meant to be: a shedding of childhood patterns that no longer serve us, a deprogramming and detaching from the untruths of our toxic society, and tuning into our human altruistic nature so that we can awaken to our highest sense of self. The spiritual awakening is an awakening of the true self. Some people need the language of a higher power to illuminate their inner light. And then again some people don’t need that language at all, it doesn’t resonate or connect in the same way. The great news is that these types of apps are evidence that we can each be a work in progress with the best of intentions, and we never have to stop learning or being open to a new way of healing.
Oh yeah, I am a recovering meth addict.

Very week said. I was taught in rehab that even in AA every time “spiritual awakening” is mentioned one can simply substitute it with “a change of thinking”. Made it easier for me to digest. As for Russell Brand is is so gifted with sobriety and the ability to pass it on.
