I recently shared this on my FB but I felt moved to share this here as I’ve seen a few folks are struggling with relapse.
Someone on Twitter made a judgmental comment about people who relapse.
What I am about to say is knowing full well how deadly a relapse can be because I saw it with my own two eyes, so I don't want any replies about how deadly it can be. I know.
Though relapsing is not a “requirement” for recovery, now at 20 months sober, I can confidently say anyone who kicked me when I was down, be it privately or in any meeting with holier than thou language is NOT a part of my recovery today.
If you ever relapse and you live through it, keep on trying and try something different—anyone who makes you feel less than is not a person you need in your support circle.
