Relapsed after almost two months of sobriety. Acted a fool

Relapsed after almost two months of sobriety. Acted a fool and now I’m sick as ever, why is it we think we are invincible can have one drink…..one drink turns into a 2 day binder. Any suggestions on how to start and stay sober.

Don’t be hard on your self! Proud of you for being honest with yourself and saying it out loud!:raised_hands:t3:
Been sober since 11:2019. The one thing I learned and use after 8 days of detox, 28 days of inpatient rehab and 8 weeks of IOP. I did smart recovery (cognitive therapy). It s the only thing that worked for me and is working for me.
But when I get those cravings or urges ( believe me I do some days worse than others. Even after 3 years.
I use these four letters every day……
Hungry
Angry
Lonely
Tired
Hungry, ask myself am I hungry, if I am than I eat. And usually cravings go away for that hour
Angry or alone, what am I angry about, I than write down what is bothering me. That hour I can handle because I’m busy
Lonely, text someone or call someone and talk, usually from my AA home group and explain what’s going on. Talking will keep me outta my head and I can suppress that urge for another hour.
Tired, am I tired, I’ll lay down read a book and take a nap. (Books put me to sleep…:stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.). Another hour or so down of not drinking.
You see I use hours in the days because I’m always in my head and that’s dangerous for me. But these four letters save me all the time. I run that all the time and it truly helps me.

But look into that smart recovery. It was a game changer for me.

I’m here if you ever wanna talk!. Hope I can pass this to you and it helps you somewhat. But I do live hour by hour. Even after 3 years

That little voice is the addiction lying to you. It is a tricky @sshole. It will do and tell you anything to get what it wants. Getting sober is not just a “im not gonna drink anymore” thing. As far as my advice… get to a program. Any program. AA, Recovery Darhma, SMART… detox or rehab. Recovery is a we thing. Asking for help when needed is crucial. You can do it! There is a whole community out here who not only is willing to help, but genuinely wants to. You need to make the first move and walk in and ask.
