Relapsed last night/this morning

Relapsed last night/this morning.. I almost made it but my lack of impulse control broke my sobriety. I am a horrible human and father. I told my son I’d meet him and his mom at the skating rink, to hang out then bring him home. Was still to high to go when the time came. Resorted to asking his mom to drop him off when they’re done. All I can do is cry because I let him down again, I didn’t follow through on my word. I’m tired of doing this to him. I hate that I have this addiction.

Keep your head up, Marc. You are no a horrible human or father. You are simply a human that suffers from a terrible disease. Show yourself some grace. Our lives are not easy but we are fighters who will continue to fight

Thanks Ray, I appreciate that a lot. This fight is hard. But I won’t give up.

I have been going through a divorce for the last 1.5 years and I have a 5 year old girl. I try so hard to always do the right thing but I’m learning that I will make countess mistakes and I can’t beat myself up about it. Especially when our children will almost always still want us in their lives. We have plenty of opportunities to do right by them in the future but it’s impossible to always do right. They will forgive us. Forgive yourself and focus on the next chance. I feel your pain, brother!

Hey brother, keep your head up. Even though it was yesterday it's in the past. It took me 15 years from when I decided I was going to get clean. FIFTEEN YEARS. Get into some kind of treatment/therapy. That was the deciding factor in me getting better. We need help on how to live our lives sober. I'm praying for you my man. It will work. Promise

You’re a good man with a bad disease. Dust yourself off, give yourself some
Grace and go for it again. You can do this!

Be easy on yourself. Drop the bat and pick up the feather. You’ve got this :muscle:t2:

Treat yourself with kindness, and compassion. Recognize that you are not choosing a substance over your child, if you were, you wouldn’t be here. You’re trying, and please keep trying, because you can’t get anywhere if you’re standing still. Someone once said to me “If nothing ever changes, then nothing ever changes.” I roll that through my head a thousand times a day, and it helps me to keep moving forward. Sending virtual hugs, friend.
