Used to do a lot of volunteer work. Most wasn’t voluntarily. Got a DUI in Jersey and it was part of my sentence 
Thankfully that was over 10 years ago. Lost my mom. Dark period. But remember feeling good about helping people and feeling like I wanted to continue in some way even after I was not required. Then my sentence was up. Life happened and I stopped. Found a church a few miles away that has a pantry. Gonna stop there tomorrow and see if there is any volunteer work I can fit in my schedule when I’m not working. Maybe that will help. Maybe
