Rotating addictions

Relied on beer when quiting the harder stuff. Cigarettes to cope with quiiting drinking. And now I feel like a newcomer after 15 days of no smoking I'm still trying to push the never ending cravings away while finding ways to pass the time I'd normally be smoking.

New hobbies like baking, cooking, woodwork, gardening. Consider running as a way to de-stress. Consider learning a new language. These are just examples of ways I am looking at channeling my addictive energy into something self constructive.

I agree with Shane. You can also try smoking cessation products like the gum, mints, or the patch to help with those cravings. In time your body will regulate itself from coming off of the substances. If the cravings are intolerable there are some medications you can try that can help. That is something you would need to discuss with your primary care or psychiatrist. Another option in the meantime is going outside! Hiking…exercise…get moving. All the best to you on your journey!

I suggest building a support group. Also, trying to quit too many addictions at once is very difficult. Maybe stay off the booze and drugs just for today? Thanks.

Got some nic patches from a friend and have been tapering myself down daily. But been sober off alc and the hard stuff coming up on 15 months, figured it was time to ditch my last vice. Hardest part is keeping my hands occupied while driving
