Rough day today. When I got home. Just questioning a lot of things. Learning to let go is so rough does anyone have this problem?

Yeah one of my ongoing mantras is “ keep letting go”. It interrupts the thought/ argument and allows me to refocus on what im doing.

The best thing I heard recently is I'm drinking the poison waiting for those who hurt me to suffer :slightly_smiling_face:

At first letting go feels kind of lazy, but after a while it makes life so easy. I make decisions and take action on things that obviously make sense to do so. On the other stuff, if it’s not obvious, I forget about it and do nothing. It’s funny how those things tend to go away or work themselves out.

That’s hardcore mindset. Savage

This is something I am learning to see

Hey Tony! I go thru the same thing. I often fight and question everything. It’s a struggle that often leads me to feel irritable and restless. I was talking about this with my sponsor not long ago. He simply said I should try to surrender. It made a lot of sense. I was fighting (not accepting). As I thought this thru and tried to surrender (accept) these things that were bothering me, a peaceful feeling came over me.

It’s that exactly. My partner keeps telling me the same thing. It’s like I feel like I’ve started in a few parts of my life then in others I repeat the same habit. It’s hard to balance

I get it. Believe me I get it. It’s a constant battle lol. Just because we “let it go” this morning, doesn’t mean that we don’t start fighting again later in the day. Don’t beat yourself up over this. It’s perfectly normal to do this. We are human (I think). The key is to become more and more aware of it, and to let it go again ASAP before it ruins are day. It takes a ton of practice. We’ll never be perfect, but hopefully we will recognize these feelings more quickly, and spend less time fighting them so that we can lead a more peaceful and happy life

Tony, I’m sorry you had a rough day! It happens to the best of us. Letting go is the hardest thing to do in early recovery. One of my character defects is attachments. Once I have something I latch on for dear life. It’s getting better each day I’m sober. Each day I turn my will over to the care of God. Material world had a good hold on me. My ex-wife had a good hold on me. My own self will had a good hold.
Learning to be in the moment has helped. What happened yesterday is gone. What happens tomorrow doesn’t matter. What’s going on right now is all that matters. 90% of my thoughts are wrong or not true. We must not give up on ourselves. We fight each moment with grace and dignity leaving our pride and expectations at the door.

Thank you for sharing sir. That 90 percent of my thoughts part is just reeking havoc. Just put no trust in myself due to ego, no trust in my partner, no trust in my supervisors. And it’s just so hard to focus with this storm just blowing through my head. It just affects the people around me and just in that instance does it just spike the anxiety into downward spiral negative feedback loop.

Welcome . I completely understand what you’re going through. It’s this moment we need to step back ask for help and or guidance from our higher power.

Letting go is tough. The hardest thing about is is we hold on to things like it is a lifeline. We use feelings, places to keep from “falling” but we often don’t realize we are on the ground so there is no need for a lifeline. I’m reminded of the kid who was drowning in a pool holding on to a rope…until his mom walked over and put his feet on the bottom. Don’t overthink. Make sure you aren’t in the same boat.
