I quit drinking again a few days ago. I had made the mistake of inserting alcohol in to my regular routine and now I find it harder to continue those routines without alcohol involved. I've tried to focus on my creative side and have used writing and designing to try and distract me. Even a TV show I know I really enjoy, that's going to actually to take my mind off of the cravings will work. But if I'm idle for too long, the little voice says things could be more interesting, more fun, if you just have a drink. But one drink always turn in to many drinks inevitably. I would imagine other people have a similar struggle and I'd be glad to share and get tips and tricks that could help all of us stay sober. Thanks for reading, you're all beautiful people.
Building new habits requires consistent effort. They do not develop overnight. Stay positive and celebrate small victories!
I remember in my early sober days, it was weird for me to drink anything out of a can. My mind always said to drink it as fast as possible. Almost 5 years later that thought never crosses my mind. You got it!
Yep, my mind went there to after my relapse last month. I started off with one drink, and the first day I picked up two drinks I was calling the guy with the drugs. All downhill from there. I can never have one drink and I proved myself right again.
If you're looking for a TV show that new Spider-noir is great I really enjoyed it but I'm a huge Nicolas Cage fan but for other things to distract myself I really like walking listening to positive music on said walks and really just trying to keep my schedule full with groups and school and work kind of builds a tight schedule to have much run free time on the brain I'm still fairly new to sobriety myself so don't necessarily have a good direct answer for you but this is just what helps me
We all have been there, it's those little unguarded moments that plague us in recovery. Just tell yourself I have to get through the day. Don't think about it any further, just the day. If you find yourself waking up tomorrow morning and you made it, then you have discovered the secret. It will be a little easier to get yourself through one more day.
