Grateful and sad at the same time. I’m grateful for being able to support a dear friend who is suffering with alcohol-related dementia caused by Wernicke syndrome. Sad to see such a young person (58) have to live in a memory care facility. After almost 20 years of sobriety, she started drinking again and this is what happened. Could’ve easily been me. Praying for healing and improvement as new meds take effect. :pray:t2::broken_heart:

Reminds me of the story in the big book of the guy with 25 yrs sobriety that retires, then outcame the bottle and house slippers and he was dead within 6mths. Cunning, Baffeling, and Powerful.

So sorry to hear that. I lost my bandmate and close friend. His organs just started falling. He was dying when I was getting well. I easily could have been him and vice versa. Continue to be well, Barbara.

Sorry for your loss. It just hurts. Knowing her life will never be the same. But an excellent reminder for me to continue my recovery.

I feel for you. Well wishes.

I remember that story. Crazy how devastating and powerful alcohol can be💔
