Someone at a meeting got a medallion for 50 years of sobriety last night. I had never seen someone get that length of time before, nor heard of anyone who has. The meeting itself was fantastic and there was a special energy in the room. He recieved a standing ovation.
He said "The first 11 steps are suggestions, but when you get through them all, you're done with suggestions. The 12th step is mandatory. Keeping what has been freely given to you to yourself is selfish, and we don't deal in me or I."
