Secular Look At AA/Recovery Daily Refelections

"God" isn't a part of my recovery, even though I am a member of AA. If you are struggling and "god " isn't for you, check out this site, and the optional "daily reflections".

Having god or an understanding of god in your life is absolutely not necessary to get/stay sober. Please don't be discouraged if getting over what many will tell you is the "only way". It isn't.

Bump

Try the book Staying Sober without God. It was recommended to me by another AA member who also struggled when he came in with the concept of religion in recovery. I’m enjoying it so far!

I think some people skip the god concept because they don’t want to live by spiritual principles meaning being a decent person and helping others. I’ve actually heard that from people who wear a cross. It’s idol worship of still wanting the gifts from god but not wanting to behave better. I’m not saying that is you but it’s something to think about.

I don't have to think about it because I don't believe in god. I dont believe in "gifts from god". I believe you "reap what you sow". Sound familiar? Work hard, it pays off. Makes sense. I like things that make sense. To me, god makes no sense. So I don't bother with it.

Being a believer, or a member of any religion in particular doesn't mean you are incapable of being a "good person" worshipping "god" doesn't make you "good". Not sure why the religious think they have the market on being morally sound cornered. That's always been weed to me. There are far more god believers doing terrible shĂŻt out there than there are atheists. HeII alot if them are doing terrible stuff in the name of their chosen deity.

Crazy crazy stuff.
