Has anyone in the LA area attended any sort of secular AA or AA adjacent meetings? I’m also curious about SMART recovery if any of you have any experience with that. I attended a couple AA meetings early on in my sobriety and struggled with the whole spiritual aspect of it. I’ve made it to 15 months now just relying on online support/podcasts/etc, but I think I’d really benefit from finding an in-person sober community.
I have a homie in Venice that's goes to some secular meetings. I can put you in contact with him and he can help you out. He does a Venice Beach meeting every week, on the beach.
I am an atheist, no higher power, and I attend agnostic meetings here in Cleveland, but also the traditional meetings. I am past being hung up on the wording others use, even though some leads sound like baptist preachers, and I just think, whatever it takes for this kook to stay sober, so be it.
Look up Secular AA Los Feliz...
Interested in this as well. Hit me with the hybrids
I still fraternize with AAers and go to meetings on zoom. It’s the only big community of alcoholics trying to stay sober. I stay away from the ‘hard line’ discussions and often laugh at two drunks arguing over how to stay sober better😂. But seriously Smart recovery was good. It’s just the fellowship and community that keeps me sober and I get that places like here and AA discord and zooms.
