Seeking someone to be a sponsor. I am really just hoping to have someone to be on the other end of a text, other than my family that I don’t want to further burden, that I can reach out to when I find myself convincing myself that drinking again is fine.
If you go to AA meetings you will inevitably find a lot of good people willing to sponsor you.
A sponsor is way deeper than that.. U dnt pick and choose how things are done
To find a sponsor, you have to go to 12-step meetings and find someone who seems to have strong recovery - and ask them if they will be your sponsor. Sponsors will not approach you to ask if they can sponsor you.
A sponsor’s primary purpose is to guide you through working the 12-steps of recovery. Anything else is a bonus. And for it to work a sponsor has to surrender to how a sponsor wants to do things. Just having someone on the other end of a text - that sounds like a sober friend or accountability partner, but probably not a sponsor.
