Seven months sober today

Seven months sober today in my second life of sobriety. I had a 6.5 year sobriety, then a 6.5 year relapse.

I don’t look back on my “6 and a half year walk through he11” with regret. While I certainly am not happy that my relapse occurred, I learned much from it, and it has helped me to grow into a more compassionate person.

The lessons learned from my relapse has given me a passion for helping others, which is transforming my life and has given my life a true purpose. I’m now a better dad, a better employee, a better citizen, and a better person.

I’m not grateful for my struggles, but I am grateful that God has shown me how to use those struggles to help me grow and become stronger. I love this life of sobriety, and I look forward to what God has in store for my life in the years to come.
