Since becoming sober has anyone noticed that being integrous has become so very important to them? I think the years of lying about and hiding my drinking behaviors has led me to value integrity so so much in my sobriety

At least for me

I’ve always valued integrity in others, even when mine was questionable. Hypocrisy, right? Haha. But, to your point. I think for me, it’s because the principles of discipline and integrity are so closely related.

In order for us to get and remain sober, it takes most of us, immense amounts of discipline. Deciding we value our sobriety and will not compromise on the road to get there. And once there, we cast away anything or anyone that may get in the way of that.

Much like integrity. You establish what your values are, and your actions reflect those values. Anything or anyone that may compromise those values is cast away.

It a refreshing way to live. Saying “No” gets easier the more you say it.

My standards have definitely become higher. I find myself being able to see everything and everyone clearer as well

AA big book uses the term character which includes integrity but I like your use of integrity to make a more specific focus on the connotation of internal healing as we learn to live sober.

Yes! So much!

So so true
